Should we change what we teach in school?

The questions we should consider are simple. Whose responsibility is it to teach our children about sex? Perhaps more importantly, when should this teaching take place? In the more innocent past, parents had more time to prepare for the moment when they would “reveal all”. This became a kind of standing joke because the children had usually worked out the basics before the parents summoned the courage to speak. Today, our children grow up so fast. They become adults without a chance to enjoy their childhood. Because of this acceleration, parents get left behind in the sexual education race. Through the rumors and myths of school and the experimentation among friends, children rapidly understand the biological difference between the sexes and how the process is supposed to work. Some educationalists suggest children should be slowly introduced to the nature of sex and how it fits into relationships from the age of five onwards.

That mention of age always brings a shock. When the parents themselves are often embarrassed by talk about sex and sexuality, the notion that such an innocent child might need to begin learning about adult matters is radical. Some parents are deeply offended by the idea. They remember their own innocence at that age and refuse to believe their own children can be different. Yet you only have to look at the world from a child’s point of view to see why education is necessary. Forty and fifty years ago, most people married and divorce was relatively uncommon. Now fewer people marry and same sex couples enter into civil partnerships. Divorce is routine with families splitting up and forming into new units. When children see relationships shifting and changing around them, they deserve to know what is happening which, of course, involves explaining about sex.

There is an increasing body of research which shows an improvement in relationship building among adults who have been through sex education at an early age. The more children are left to mythologise and guess wrongly about sex, the more unstable the relationships they form. This also fits in with new research suggesting that boys benefit from education with girls, whereas girls are better when taught in a single-sex environment. Curiously, the earlier boys learn how to relate to girls, the better they perform later in life. It is all a question of self-confidence. As boys grow into men, they have the chance to practise relationships with girls. With the right education and training, they can become better partners and more satisfying lovers.

The majority of parents resist the idea of detailed sex education in school and, when it comes, they prefer abstinence as the core message. This is unrealistic. Children do not wait on their parent’s permission to begin their own experiments. For many older men, performance anxiety is becoming more common. They have lacked long-term training in relationships. Were it not for cialis, their self-confidence would have disappeared in the face of more assertive women. They have never completely come to terms with sex and the more modern sexual roles adopted by women. Men buy cialis to give them a natural erection whenever there is sexual stimulation. This gives them a chance to build longer term relationships once the sex is working properly.

Modern science is developing a new miracle cream

In the good old days before we lost our innocence, sex was a simple fun thing to do. When someone noticed the cause and effect of producing babies, relationships became a series of choices. Curiously, modern couples are choosing not to have children. In many developed countries, the birth rate is falling below the level necessary to maintain the population. The reasons are complicated but mainly flow from the change in gender roles. Instead of men marrying women to stay home and raise children, women are making careers for themselves and delaying marriage until later in life. They are happy as DINKS – Dual Income, No Kids. Add to this to stress of modern life which puts pressure on relationships and, suddenly later in life, some men find their erections failing when they are expected to fire the bullets to produce pregnancy. What seemed a natural and uncomplicated process of young people producing children has now been converted into a race against time when the couple finally decide to stop the contraceptive measures.

Before the arrival of oral medication, the quite common failure of erections in ageing men was a real problem that could only be “cured” either by quite painful injections or the use of embarrassing pieces of vacuum equipment better suited to the laboratory than the bedroom. Wives were therefore left with the task of manually trying to encourage a sufficient hardness to achieve penetration. In future the same massage may have a rather better chance of success thanks to developments at Yeshiva University. In this instance, the linkage of Albert Einstein’s name to a College of Medicine seems to have produced a great scientific step forward. Dr Kelvin Davies has been leading a team to develop a topical cream that can be rubbed into the penis and produce an erection. This is the first time that so-called nanoparticles have been used to treat erectile dysfunction. The idea is that these tiny particles will pass through the skin and be directly absorbed into the penis. Up to now, the team has been trying out the product on rats and all involved have found satisfactory results. Now the team are planning to move on to human testing.

In theory, the direct application of a substance with the same effect of viagra will have more immediate and consistent results. As it is, a not insignificant percentage of men find viagra ineffective. Often, these are the men who have psychological rather than physical problems. They find the delay between taking the pill and the results disturbing. Hanging around for thirty minutes or more adds to performance anxiety. The researchers hope that rubbing on a cream during foreplay will be more stimulating and more likely to produce the desired effect. Assuming enough couples come forward to allow the human trials to go ahead and the results are as hoped, this cream could be on the market in about two tears time. Until then, couples will have to rely on tried and trusted viagra. It has been the dominant brand for ten years and counting. It will take something special to persuade men to move on to a cream even though the rubbing in could be pleasurable in itself.

Is food dangerous?

It’s not a comforting thought but a lot of the food we put on our plates to eat is not healthy at all. Of course, the marketing firms that sell us food would never want to talk about the problems. Their job is to highlight the good side, not the dark side, of food. But the national statistics tell a different story. The reality comes under two rather different headings. The first is all about food poisoning. Every now and again, you will see muted stories in the media reporting the recall of produce suspected of being the source of an E.Coli. Campylobacter or Salmonella outbreak. Most of the time, we ignore it. So, some bacteria was in the water used to irrigate the fields and the tomatoes made a few people sick. Except this is not something affecting a few people. According to the National Institutes of health, there are about 76 million cases of food poisoning every year. Put another way, you stand about a 1 in 3 chance of a bacterial infection every time you eat.

Now, in one sense, we can justify being calm about the risks because we have no choice. The industrial approach to stocking the shelves in our local stores with food is not interested in safety unless it clearly affects profits. Look around. There are no public demonstrations calling for government action, no right wing rants against farmers. So there is no investment in making food production safer. That makes it all the more ironic that the latest story about food poisoning should be about a popular, ready-to-drink, weight loss product. Regardless of flavor or date of manufacture, Unilever are quietly recalling every can currently out there in the market. The FDA has found evidence that the manufacturing process has been defective. Millions of cans have been contaminated with bacteria likely to cause diarrhea and vomiting.

The second darker side of food is the carbohydrate content. As almost everyone is aware, the majority of people around the world are overweight. In developed countries like the US, the obesity rate is reaching epidemic proportions. Given the clear medical evidence linking excessive weight to serious diseases and early death, it is reassuring that more people are considering a change to their diets. Eating smaller portions of more healthy food is a good first step to losing weight. However, Unilever’s recall of its leading diet product is a symptom of a different problem. People who want to lose weight have become the target of manufacturers eager to sell a range of weight loss products. Sadly, not all those products are effective or safe.

Here is a simple, uncontroversial statement. Diet products do not have to be approved by the FDA before they are sold. Drugs like acomplia do have to be tested to prove their safety and effectiveness. No-one has ever got food poisoning from a drug. So, if you want to control your appetite and feel comfortable on a lower calorie diet, buy acomplia. As to the food, you should consider switching to organic. It is more expensive but usually safer. Finally, join a political movement to encourage farmers and manufacturers to improve safety standards. Losing weight through diarrhea and vomiting is unpleasant.

Online pharmacies are to blame

Men may be the strong hunter-gathers who hold all the power in society, but if things go wrong in the bedroom, they lose all respect and become weaker than women. Think Aristophanes and “Lysistrata” in the theater of Ancient Greece, Chaucer and “The Miller’s Tale” in early England, and all the other plays and stories mocking men who, for one reason or another, cannot have sex. This theme represents the one consistent cultural truth. Society has accepted men as the dominant gender and wrapped up all the symbolism of sexual power in the right to govern. So, throughout time, men whose sexual performance has been less than stellar have been devising strategies to hide their problems. Not for them the honesty and openness of failure. Everything must be hidden away. So it was that we came to the end of the last century and a revolutionary event. The release of the little blue pill on to the market suddenly offered a way of recovering lost power. All that was required was sufficient honesty to ask a doctor for a prescription. Since this admission took place behind the locked doors of doctor-patient confidentiality, men in their millions begged for relief. Fortunately, the pills delivered. More importantly, the pills are easily hidden. One pill some thirty minutes before sexual activity is expected protects everyone’s reputation. So one quick unobtrusive swallow does a summer make.

In fact, the manufacturers and medical profession were taken by surprise at the number of men who asked for relief. The problem for so long hidden away proved to be far greater than anyone had guessed. For the manufacturer, this was the opening day for the gold mine. For men, it was the opening day of the rest of their active sexual lives. Researchers came rushing forward to start a host of new projects to investigate the causes of erectile dysfunction now that most men affected were prepared to talk about their problems. For two or three years, this new climate of honesty continued but then, to everyone’s surprise, the number of prescriptions stabilised and, in some countries, began to fall. The online pharmacies were establishing their credibility and offering a completely confidential delivery service without the need for a prescription. Now men could sit in their own homes and place an order with their privacy guaranteed. The problem went back underground and researchers found it difficult to recruit men for their latest projects.

There is good and bad in this. Viagra has proved itself a remarkably effective drug. In almost every case, this drug works the first and then every time to produce an erection when needed. For that, millions of men around the world are grateful. But for medical research, an opportunity has been lost. In the years immediately after viagra appeared, we learned so much more about the extent of the problem and its causes. Many changes have been made to the training of doctors and to the range of treatments available as a result. But with an increasing number of men buying the drug without seeking medical advice, the chance for collecting more information is reducing. If the trend continues, we will be back to the days of plausible deniability.

It won’t make you go blind

It’s strange how the warnings given when you are young can still haunt you years later. Very early, parents and teachers muttered darkly that masturbation will make you go blind. This is a terrible warning to give a growing child. Everything in the world is shiny and new. You are just starting to drink in all the sights, sounds and new experiences. To suggest you will be denied sight if you pursue just a little personal pleasure in private is unkind to say the least. It goes way beyond the use of guilt and ordinary fear. This is the demonization of a natural activity that helps you learn about the way in which you body works. At a time when you should be exploring the relationship between your body and your emotions, you are left with nothing but frustration. Until you find a willing partner that is. Then the world takes on a different look and feel as “natural” emotions start to flow. Except you then run into a whole new set of barriers where parents expect you to wait until marriage before trying sex. Abstinence is the preferred message in modern sex education for growing children.

By a curious coincidence, the labels on the drugs used to treat erectile dysfunction also refer to various risks connected to eyesight. This is not a threat made to deter adults from sexual activity. Rather, it refers to a side effect experienced by some of the men who take the drugs. A very small number of men have reported a slight blurring of their vision, often accompanied by a blue tinge to what is seen. One or two have experienced a complete loss of vision. This latter is so remote a possibility that it can almost immediately be dismissed. The average man is never going to find his vision disappearing. To discover the extent of the risk of mere blurring, there has been a recent clinical trial involving almost 250 healthy men. None of the men had any problems with their vision and their eyes were tested before, during and after taking the relevant drugs (or a placebo) over a six month period.

The results were recently published and show no change to the eyesight of any of the men who participated. There are two minor comments that take the edge of the goodness of the news. The first is that the participants were given low doses of viagra. In the real world, the men who reported problems were all taking up to the maximum daily dose. Thus, the strength of the evidence is limited by the need to produce an ethical study. Researchers should not knowingly design a clinical trial likely to injure the participants. Secondly, none of the participants had any existing problem with their eyes. Again, the men who reported problems all had less than perfect vision. The study therefore suggests that it’s perfectly safe to take viagra. It will not make you go blind if you are taking a lower dose and you have no existing problems with your eyesight. Because this represents most men, this study confirms viagra’s reputation as safe and effective.

Modern life will be the death of sex

No matter how far back in time you travel, you will always find stories about men having problems with their erections. In most of the early plays, poetry and literature, the unfortunates are held up for our pity and, sometimes, our amusement. So long as men are supposed to be the ones with all the power in society, loss of power in the bedroom equals loss of manhood. They almost become less than men. In the earliest times when it was customary to castrate some men as the price of specific work opportunities, this produced a significant irony. It was the difference between physical emasculation as a career choice and those whose equipment simply refused to work properly. Such men became lower even than the eunuchs. They were as far down in the social ladder as it was possible to go and still count as human. Even women were considered above them!

In modern times, shame and humiliation continue to haunt men whose performance levels flag. Despite the now medically verified fact that all men slowly lose potency as they age, there remains an expectation that nothing should ever prevent a real man from engaging in sex. Until recently, no-one knew how many men were affected. Only a few were ever prepared to admit their problems. With the launch of a tablet as a treatment, floodgates opened and tens of thousands of men made a desperate plea for help. That gave an unofficial number for those affected. But the launch of the online pharmacy drove the problem back underground. With men able to get the drugs without a prescription, we are back to guesswork. But one thing does seem clear. The number of men seeking help is rising more than might be expected.

The probable reasons are modern lifestyles. There’s increased stress in the pace of life and changes in gender roles. As expectations of greater sexual equality rise, men find their traditional dominance under threat. Add in the changes in diet and the lack of exercise, and men come under greater pressure as obesity threatens. As body weight rises, so to do the risks of diabetes, high blood pressure and heart disease. If men are content with life as a couch potato, drinking lots of beer and smoking, erectile dysfunction is the most likely first symptom of serious underlying health problems.

Although viagra has an unmatched reputation as a safe and effective way of treating erectile dysfunction, there comes a point when even the little blue pill cannot work its magic. The reality is that, if diabetes goes untreated, there will be nerve damage that prevents an erection. Similarly, if there is damage to the arterial system, the first place to suffer will be the penis – that’s where some of the smallest arteries have the biggest jobs. The message is simple and clear. Thin men enjoy sex for longer. That means you should take care to eat less fatty food in smaller portions and exercise more. Keeping your weight in check and leading a less stressful life will keep you going longer. If there are problems, viagra will always help even if you are leaving your sixtieth decade and entering your seventieth.

Homeowners insurance facts

For most of us buying a home is the biggest investment to mike during the whole lifetime. And it seems reasonable that such an important investment needs reasonable coverage. That’s why you need home insurance.

What’s included in your homeowners insurance?

In case you finance your house purchase through a mortgage, your lender is most likely to require you buying basic homeowners insurance. The basic homeowners insurance includes coverage against the following risks:

  • Theft
  • Fire and lightning
  • Smoke
  • Frozen pipes
  • Ice and snow

Basic insurance policies also usually include liability coverage for cases when someone is injured in your house. In case there are legal actions taken against you it will also pay for court fees. Basic insurance will also cover your costs in case it’s impossible to live in the house due to fire or any other accident.

What’s left out of coverage?

To learn what is not included into the coverage you should read through your policy, especially the Exclusions part. Things not covered by standard policies vary from one company to another, but most likely they will include damage due to earthquake, flood, nuclear accident, war, act of terrorism and similar. Still, you can purchase additional coverage for such events to be included into your home insurance policy. Wear and tear damage is never included into the policy because it’s considered to be maintenance, which is the owner’s sole responsibility.

How much coverage do I need?

When buying a house through mortgage loan your lender will require you to purchase minimum home insurance coverage (which is usually the purchase value of your home). However, it’s usually not the amount of coverage to meet your insurance needs. Instead, try calculating how much money it would require to rebuild your house entirely and use this amount as the base for getting the right coverage amount. Speak to your agent when completing the insurance policy to calculate the exact amount, or even run a full inspection for qualified appraisal.

Typically, liability limits are around $100,000, however it’s too little to protect your assets in case of legal action. You may opt to raise your limits up to $500,000 for an additional price. Sometimes it may be useful to get umbrella coverage, which pushes your limits beyond $1 million, however such coverage is typically offered only when you have both your auto and home insurance from the same carrier.

Money saving tips

Of course homeowners insurance can be quite costly sometimes. Especially when you have many items under additional coverage. In order to keep the coverage you need while still having reasonable rates you might want to consider raising your deductibles first. Deductibles are the amount of money you will have to pay out of your own pocket for the damage before the insurance policy kicks in. and the higher is that amount the lower will be your premium. The usual deductible within standard policies is $250. Try raising it to $500 or even $1000, and your rates will go down by up to 15%.

Another good way to make your home insurance cheaper is installing security features such as alarm or video, special locks and so on. This way you protect your assets and the insurance company is likely to give you a good discount for that.

Your medication should be a well-thought decision

Sixty percents of men over 40 are familiar with erectile dysfunction. That means more than half of them are not satisfied in bed. It may be shameful and embarrassing but really, it is not that bad. There is a medication for almost anything you can possible think of. Erectile dysfunction problem is not an exception. The worst thing men can do is try to avoid the subject making it a taboo topic. This, in its turn, distances them from the solution and salvation of the issue. Some say it is better to leave it as it is than confess having sexual malfunctioning being young. It is not true. Doctors are there to help and we much never make them our enemies. They are the people that are supposed to choose a correct path for us and guide us through the period of illness. Erectile dysfunction medication should not be complex; it can be as difficult as you want it to be. If you allow yourself to take long with it, the recovery may last forever – if you know how much time you have to get it over with – act now.

What is there to do?

First step you need to take in order to get rid of erectile dysfunction is to change your ordinary lifestyle and fix the schedule you live by. This is what doctors ask their patients to do after making an overall body examination. What does the change of a lifestyle may include? Healthy diet is one of the components, as well as work out sessions. Another important factor is getting rid of all the unhealthy habits that are stopping you from being a good body condition. Smoking and drinking are the most famous bad habits that people find hard to eliminate.

Smoking damages your health in multiple ways. We won’t have a lecture with you now about the harm it causes to body organs but we will definitely mention that erectile dysfunction and smoking are related. Don’t wait until your health state gets worse. It may happen that it will be too late to fix anything. Act now. You can substitute smoking with something else – candies for example. Take one candy or a chocolate bar every time you lift your hand to get a cigarette. Believe us, it works. Plus sweets taste so much better. Don’t let your mind think about smoking either. Go watch TV instead.

Do not be taken in by sites selling fakes

When at our mother’s knee, we all hear this friendly voice warning us never to forget, “The world is full of thieves and villains.” It first surfaces in unexplained instructions never to walk off with adults we do not know. This is “stranger danger” and it’s only in later years we realize how many predators there are and what they want. Then come all the other warnings about value. This is the “if it’s cheap, it must be bad value warning. Yet, remarkably, we never seem to care when buying a fake Rolex for a few dollars. It just seems like a fun thing to be able to wrap round our wrists and impress our friends for a few hours. The fact this may be stealing from the owners of the brand in some way never seems to connect. Well, ladies and gentlemen, here’s an adult warning for you. There are folk out there on the internet who want to steal from you and, this time, it’s personal. You are the ones who will bear the loss. These particular thieves pick a product where your own defenses may be down. This is the erectile dysfunction market. It exists in both a direct and indirect form.

On the direct sites, these businesses claim to be selling the little blue pills at a fraction the usual retail price. They are full of convincing explanations and promises. All you have to do is send the money and await results. The safer version simply disappears with your money and never troubles the mailman. This is the “smash and grab” approach to theft. There’s no subtlety involved. Like the robber who bashes you over the head to steal your wallet, these guys advertize and run. The more dangerous actually send you some pills. If you are lucky, these pills are completely harmless and will not injure you in any way. If you are unlucky, the pills contain something dangerous and they make you ill. So only buy from trusted online pharmacies. That way you get the real product.

All of which brings me to the latest news out of the FDA. It’s their job to police the way in which all drugs and “natural” products are sold. They have just added Stiff Nights to the list of some 24 similar products offered for sale over the last four years. This was a male enhancement product, coming with claims to make you a spectacular sexual athlete using only completely natural ingredients. These ads play on your insecurities and, for a high price, offer you the answer to all your prayers (whatever they are). Well, Stiff Nights was a highly effective product. As the word-of-mouth confirmed, it produced really hard erections. The reason? The manufacturer mixed in viagra. Instead of this being an all natural product as claimed, it was the little blue pill repacked and sold on at an inflated price. So make to our idioms. If it looks too good to be true, it probably is. Do not be taken in by empty promises. There is no need to spend your hard-earned dollars on enhancement products. Buy viagra from one of the trusted online pharmacies and get spectacular erections for a really low price – the best value-for-money pills on the market, bar none.
